Shampoo cleans the hair of oil and dirt and product build up (use a clarifying shampoo for that) and conditioner keeps the hair strands themselves moisturized.

as far as i know shampoo cleans your hair and container put moisture into it and makes it shiny
conditioner makes it more easier for your hair to be easier to brush when wet and shampoo cleans it, conditioner makes hair more easier to deal with, its a must to have it....lol
