I have tried all natural shampoo. People have also said it is her ears. So I also clean her ears. But within a day she stinks again!I have a Yorkie. And she really stinks all the time!!! Is there any shampoo that will get rid of the stink?
It may be her ears, anal glands, oral problems or she could have a skin infection. I would have your vet check her over. A smelly dog is not normal.I have a Yorkie. And she really stinks all the time!!! Is there any shampoo that will get rid of the stink?
Hi RoxyGirl
A dog that ';stinks all the time';, usually warrants a trip to the Vet.
She may have an infection, which needs proper treatment.
If she ';scoots her butt'; she may have impacted anal glands.
She could have any number of things going on.
She should also not be bathed more than once a month, as it removes the natural oils from her skin.
You will probably both feel better, after a visit with the Vet.
Best of luck.
dogs shouldnt smell that bad all the time. Its a reason to call your vet and get her in. If its her ears she might have an infection, it could be rotten teeth, it also can be from a Thyroid malfunction causing the dog to make more oils and grease than normal making that smell bad. Your dog shouldnt smell all the time and its most likely needing attention.
That is just Yorkies for you! :D
You should try using some orange juice (or some other citrus) after her bath. Put it in a spray bottle and spritz it on after you towel dry her. It will help with the smell and also make her coat more shiny and silky. Just be careful not to get it in her ears or eyes. :D
Good luck with your little one's smell!
Mane N'Tail... Thats what I would use. You can buy it at most feed and seed stores and Probably most pet stores. I know I can buy it at my Grocery store here in SC. That should help if its her coat smelling. If its her ears clean them out really good and then put ear powder in them. You can buy it at places like pet smart or any pet store. Go into the store and ask someone who works in the store. They've seen it all and can probably point you out plenty of helpful Products to handle the smell.
If it is coming from her ears, it might be an ear infection. Other causes for stinky dog is a bad diet. If you are feeding a low quality dog food, the dog tends to give off more of a pungent aroma. BUT it sounds to me like your dog has an infection. That needs to be treated by the vet even if you are cleaning out her ears. She might need antibiotics.
I have a Chorkie and one time she smelled really bad. We checked her crate and we found out that she was peeing in her crate at night and thats why she stunk so bad. If you put her in a crate at night, wash the blanket she laid on and wash out the crate. Also, try finding a nice diet and a good smelling shampoo.
A stinky dog has a medical reason for it if you keep it clean. Have a vet help you figure it out. It may have an ear infection, a yeast infection, skin issues, or gastric problems. May even be anal glands.
Have you had her anal glands expressed? My yorkie gets what I call ';funky butt'; when she needs them taken care of. Your vet can do it for a small fee - they're full of stinky fluid dogs use to mark territory, and it's supposed to empty out when they poo, but sometimes it doesnt. Ask your vet about that too.
It's because Yorkies have different hair than normal dogs, their hair is like human hair so it gets oily really fast. So their hair would smell like what any persons hair would smell like without a shower. You can try using Pantene, etc. to wash their hair to make it smell better.
A normal, clean Yorkie should not smell bad. She could smell bad if her ears were infected, if she is unspayed and has a uterine infection, or has rotten teeth (very common in toy breeds). I'd recommend she is examined by your veterinarian.
Buy a shampoo specifically for DOGS. And you might want to get the shampoo for that type of dog. After that give it a good clean brush. Trust me, I have a pitbull, and a mutdog
If she smells that bad, there is something wrong, and she needs to be seen by your vet.
ask the people at the store
what did the vet say?
