I have had my boxer now for 4 years. All of a sudden she started to shed horribly. Is there anything I can do for that or whats the problem? Is there anything I can do or my dogs shedding? A special kind of shampoo?
If the shedding is unusual for her, she should see the vet.Is there anything I can do or my dogs shedding? A special kind of shampoo?
Shedding is a natural process the dog must go through in order to adapt to its climate. However, since it has been sudden, other factors can come into consideration. Many times, a change in diet can cause sudden shedding.
Shampoos that are advertised to limit shedding do not really work. I suggest buying an shedding brush that allows you to take out loose hairs with much ease. His diet should be high quality kibble that has all appropriate nutrients. With daily grooming, you'll notice his shedding will be reduced significantly.
There could be a number of reasons. Boxers shed, but if it's excessive, I'd consult a vet. If the vet gives the dog a clean bill of health, then it's time to look into what you're feeding her. Boxers and other bully breeds tend to have sensitive skin and are prone to allergies. Switch her gradually to a higher quality feed, and include some fish oils in her kibble daily. A raw egg cracked in her meals occasionally as a treat can help coat condition as well. But, IF she is scratching excessively, or you're seeing bald or thinning patches, the vet is your first stop.
The Furminator makes treats, shampoo and conditioner for shedding. Or you can try Shed-X. That works too. I have a husky, I would have atleast 5 walmart bags of hair at the end of the summer. Hopefully this will work!! Good luck!
Well there's a great brush called the Furminator it works great on one of my dogs but it is a little but pricey I would try looking around your local petstore for a special knid of shanpoo.
Regular brushing will help to remove the shedding hair.
